August 19, 2020Among the Lord’s Taverners’ key objectives are to provide sporting chances for disabled and disadvantaged kids.
One way of doing that is through Table Cricket, an abbreviated form of the game designed to give mentally and physically disabled children a chance to compete in a team sport and build the morale and camaraderie us abled-bodied cricketers have become so accustomed to.
On our travels we meet many exceptional young people, and none more so than Josh Herbert. The 13-year-old from Eros School in the Western Cape was but a boy when he was diagnosed with Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy, and while everyday life remains a struggle, an introduction to Table Cricket has brought a whole lot more smiles – and strength.
